Birthday Party!

Doyl and I went big for birthdays 4 and 2 and threw a joint birthday party, complete with jumbo bounce house and musical entertainment (Melissa Green/ www.greencirclemusic.com) for Hunter and Xavier.  We had perfect weather (70s and sunny) and a great time was had by all! We joked that we are only going to do big parties once every four years, but yesterday was such a huge success, we decided that it might be the last one we do because we will never be able to top it.  I will be posting video and pictures as I get time this week.

A Very Merry Unbirthday!

Gaga came over to babysit two weekends ago, and celebrated Hunter and Xavier's "unbirthdays" with them because she was not going to be here for their actual birthdays.  She made the famous Sheehan Family Birthday Cake and the boys helped make the frosting and decorated it with sprinkles.  They also opened their birthday presents - real sleeping bags for camping! They camped with Gaga under the dining room table most of the weekend.

Xavier Turns 2!

Xavier celebrated his 2nd birthday on Monday.  He woke up to balloons and presents, including a "garage" play house, a garbage truck, and miniature dye cast replicas of mommy and daddy's cars.  He had a special date with mommy and the babysitter to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, where he sat for the entire Sea Lion and Seal show and pet some sharks! We hit In and Out for lunch, per his request, and ended the day with "brown" cake (also his request).  All in all, it was a great day, and I am left trying to figure out how the last 2 years went by so quickly!!

Magic Doors

Hunter told me that he wants me to get a car with magic doors... the ones that open and shut with the touch of a button.  For those you wondering what kind of cars have magic doors, they are minivans!

What Makes You Happy?

Hunter's teacher shared with me that in preschool on Friday the students talked about what made them happy, and Hunter said, when my little brother doesn't take my toys and bother me.  When I asked Hunter about it, he said,

"No, I didn't say that makes me happy.  I said, it makes me sad when my brother Xavier takes my toys and bothers me.  It makes me happy when I go to Captain Sundae and have my favorite Sundae, strawberry."

I am glad Hunter's happy thoughts are about ice cream, but I think I am going to start reading up on sibling rivalry.  Let me know if there are any books on the subject you recommend.

Beach Days

I was encouraged to learn that Aunt Candy checks my blog every night before bed, so I am going to try to be better about posting more pictures and stories about our daily adventures.  I know many of you are buried under snow and experiencing freezing temperatures.  Here in California, after 2 straight weeks of rain at Christmas, we are having a beautiful and warm January.  One late afternoon we drove up to Point Dume in Malibu to make a sand castle and watch the sunset.  We never actually made the sand castle.  Xavier was content sitting on my lap watching the ocean, while Hunter manage to get soaking wet, from head to toe, running in and out of the waves as they hit the shore.
